Desktop Mod: Rainmeter

Rainmeter is an awesome little package that you can use to modify your desktop with, heres mine:

I'm currently using a theme called Onmimo 2 that I nabbed from devaintART. There are literally thousands of different themes and plugins that you can add to Rainmeter which gives a lot of customization.

You can get Rainmeter here http://rainmeter.net/RainCMS/
A good place to start looking for Rainmeter themes is to search the devaintART webpage, google works too ;).

Another simple tool while I'm at it!

It's called Window Mouse Capturer, this little guy traps your mouse cursor within a selected window. It's 100% necessary if your going to be playing any game in windowed mode. And with a toggle key(F7) its really easy to release your mouse from the window if you need to.

You can get this bad boy here!

Awesome little tool!

It's called PowerMenu and it allows you to set any active window in windows to always on top of any other windows on your windows desktop its especially useful on a dual monitor setup.

Get the installer here!

Typing speed

My Typing speed is horrendous, it sits around 55wpm. Which to be honest is fine but it feels slow considering how much time I spend in front of my computer. Going to be working on it with some of the tools listed here
http://mashable.com/2010/10/07/improve-typing-speed/

Simple Tips&Tricks

Browser hotkeys:
F1 - Help
F3 - Search page
F5 - Refresh!
F6 - goto URL bar
F11 - Toggle full screen
Ctrl+T - Open new tab
Middle mouse clicking a link will open it in a new tab
Middle mouse clicking a tab will close it

Manage startup programs:
Click Start and type msconfig, then goto the startup tab. Here you can select which programs you want enabled to automatically boot upon startup.

Some useful Windows hotkeys:
Ctrl+Shift+Esc - Opens the Task Manager
(While your at it upgrade your Task Manager here to the coveted Process Explorer from Microsoft. Once open make sure to go Options > Replace Task Manager)
Alt + Printscreen - Copy screenshot of current active window to clipboard
Shift five times - Toggle StickyKeys on and off.
Shift while a CD is loading: Bypass AutoPlay.
Win + D - Toggle minimize all windows

Win + R - Open Run dialog
Win + E - Open Windows Explorer
Win + L: Log off Windows.
